The gate has been named Seonglimmun(a sage’s visit) after Toegye’s birthmother, Chuncheon Park, had a conception dream about a sage entering the main gate. There are tablets indicating the name of each room: Taesil(the room Toegye was born), Chaekbang (library Toegye stayed to study), and the place Toegye stayed.
Nosongjeong Head House is a birthplace of Toegye, Songjae, Ongye, and other nephews, where they studied for the scholar-gentry family until they moved out.
Nosongjeong Head House, built over 560 years ago during the second year of Joseon King Danjong’s reign(year 1454), has a rich history related to Toegye.
Toegye Taesil in which Toegye was born is located in the center of the main building of the square-shaped Head House. [Local Cultural Heritage No. 60]
